A showy garden near the school entry gates, where kids learn botany basics and the gardening arts.
The garden is populated with familiar landscape plants and includes a pergola and patio for sitting and taking meals in small groups. The youngest students learn to identify all the plant types (trees, shrubs, ferns, vines, flowering herbaceous plants) while older students participate in digging and dividing perennials, planting annuals, mulching, weeding, watering and other garden maintenance tasks that teach stewardship of growing things.
Grants from the Marion County Master Gardeners Association supported this garden’s establishment.
